THE STORY OF
BREAKFAST IN AMERICA

The BIA story

The first BIA "Quartier Latin" opened in January 2003, followed by BIA "Le Marais" in 2006. Thanks to his friends from the Hollywood film world who joined the project as investors, Craig was able to bring together two of his passions: cinema and restaurants. You can now read the full BIA story in Craig's new book, Pancakes in Paris: Living the American Dream in France, a New York Times bestseller. The autographed book is available for purchase at BIA's Quartier Latin and Le Marais restaurants.

Craig Carlson's story

Originally from Connecticut, BIA founder Craig Carlson first came to France as a student and immediately fell in love with the country. It was in Paris that Craig developed his passion for film and decided to make it his profession. After attending USC Film School in Los Angeles, Craig worked as a screenwriter and director of short films before finding work on a TV series in Paris.

The only thing Craig missed while living in the City of Light was a good old-fashioned American breakfast. Craig was convinced it was time to open an authentic American Diner in Paris!
